Modern man flatters himself that he is freer, wiser, and more moral than his ancestors. He points to the Enlightenment that supposed dawning of reason, as the pivot that lifted man out of “superstition” into rationality, rights, and “humanist progress.” Yet what has this new morality produced? A society that blesses sodomy, mutilates children in the name of gender ideology, and despises the very fecundity God planted into creation. Meanwhile, the same society invents new taboos, branding as monstrous what was once ordinary, even sanctified under the law of God and the customs of Christendom.
One of those modern inventions is the blanket demonization of attraction to those in their adolescent years, what the psychiatrists now label “hebephilia”, and twitter troons label as "pedophilia". Rarely do they admit this framing is a product of Enlightenment moral engineering, not eternal truth.
Scripture never speaks of an “18-year boundary.” Such numbers are the tools of bureaucrats. Biblical anthropology understood three stages: childhood, adulthood, and the transitions of youth. In Christian tradition, adolescence was precisely when men and women came into their natural roles marriage, family, fruitfulness. To deny that is to deny both history and creation.
Our ancestors did not confuse a child dependent, unformed, with a girl ready for marriage. They saw clearly what modern laws pretend not to see: that adolescence is not perpetual childhood. Thus, early marriages were not aberrations but bulwarks of order. Girls became wives and mothers while their womanhood was fresh, preserving that delicate femininity God designed before it was corroded by careerism, barren hedonism, the neuroses of late modern feminism, and all products of the Enlightment values created by freemasons and jews, that was later spread across all western countries.
What did the Enlightenment bring, if not a reversal of morality itself? Humanity was taught that what is natural may be criminal, while what is unnatural must be celebrated. The sodomite is paraded as a hero; the sterile feminist, as the “liberated woman.” Yet the man who honors the beauty of youth, as reflected in Scripture, art, and the lives of the saints, is branded a villain. This is not righteousness but satanic inversion—calling evil good, and good evil (Isaiah 5:20).
Even within the camp of “conservatism,” many fall prey to this poisoned thinking. They rail against homosexuality, abortion, or transgenderism, but in the same breath adopt the liberal framework of Enlightenment morality in condemning traditional age norms. By doing so, they prove themselves captives of modernity.
God ordained family as the first institution of society. In older Christian cultures, the early establishment of marriage ensured that men and women were locked into their proper roles early before vice and vanity could fester. A young man married, worked, procreated, and became a patriarch. A young woman preserved her purity, married, and submitted to godly order. This was not oppression; this was God’s providential design to prevent the chaos of atomized desire.
Modernity has overthrown this. Women now age into hysteria and sterility, men into weakness and addiction. The family collapses, the Church empties, and the nation rots. Satan laughs, for the pillars God set in place have been dynamited by humanist dogmas packaged as “progress.”
