South park is 99% miss and 1% hit with political or social commentary, an actual epitome of safe edgy (as SP aside from not pushing boundaries is actively undermining systematic issues), they were better off when they did not focus on shallow political commentary.
Drawn together is gooder and actually dropped a massive fucking TRVTHNVKE in the movie.
At least girls in SP are fine. For me personally Shelley is a fav.
Shelley is deeply conditioned by her retarded surroundings. Marsh dysfunctional family life is casual, slow burn decay of a middle class life. We have (openly) worse family, McCormic one, at least Kenny and his siblings have some kind of kinship in their misfortune, but Shelley and Stan are not close. But Stan at least has buddies and quirky adventures meanwhile Shelley is all isolated and shit. And she is shown to crave attention on several instances, to the point of vulnerability to grooming (Cat Orgy episode).
Too bad not many episodes focus on her, like SP is all about children and manchildren antics and it'd be refreshing to see more Matt's take on Shelley's problems. But alas Matt did fell off (not that his show was any brilliant to begin with)
