In my personal opinion, if the US adopts similar age of consent laws as Germany or other European countries that'd be the end of my concern. 18 isn't a magic number, the whole belief of that in Americans not only infantilizes people under 18 but makes 18 year olds feel as though they've grown big and wise and can do whatever they want, when in actuality development doesn't stop the millisecond the clock strikes 12 on your 18th birthday.
